It combines travel information, location specific travel alerts, technology, human assistance and the ability to activate and coordinate physical assistance and support anywhere in the world. Travel insurance is primarily designed to protect against specified financial losses and expenses covered by a policy.
Medical evacuation memberships are typically designed as defined medical transportation or evacuation benefits when qualifying circumstances occur. For many travellers, these services are complimentary rather than interchangeable.
How Does Global Traveller Compare?
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is primarily a financial protection product. Depending on the policy, it may pay or reimburse eligible costs arising from medical treatment, cancellation, baggage loss, travel disruption, liability and other specified events.
Many insurers also provide assistance services, but the scope, availability and delivery model vary considerably between policies.
Medical Evacuation
Medical evacuation memberships are generally focused on medical transportation, repatriation or evacuation following a qualifying medical event. Some products also provide additional assistance benefits.
They can provide valuable protection against potentially significant transportation costs, but their primary purpose is different from our wider travel information and assistance model.
